Project Info
The vertical extension of the observatory building at the University Observatory of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich created additional space for research and teaching. The extension was realized as a prefabricated timber structure and integrates sensitively into the historic ensemble of the observatory. KLH® – CLT serves as a key structural element, with its exposed surfaces shaping the atmosphere of the interior spaces. Thanks to the high degree of prefabrication, installation was completed within a short period of time, while university operations continued largely without disruption. A rooftop terrace overlooking the historic observatory complements the extension.
