First rail transport
of KLH® – CLT
The KLH plant in Bad St. Leonhard, Carinthia, not only has the most modern automated production line, but also a very well-developed railway infrastructure with its own track siding.
The first rail delivery of KLH® – CLT went to Norway at the end of August, for a school in Afjord, which is 85 km north of Trondheim. A total of 530 m3 of KLH® solid wood panels were loaded onto 5 open Laaprs wagons. The loading and securing were carried out according to ÖBB guidelines. Once in Trondheim, the KLH® elements are loaded from the RCG wagons onto twelve trucks and then delivered directly to the construction site in Afjord.
Through rail transport, an additional 76 tons CO2-equivalent stored compared to standard truck deliveries. This is the first of many rail deliveries that contribute to improving the carbon-footprint balance of the KLH® – CLT projects.
